David has an extensive background in technology, business management and venture capital, spanning 25 years. Now in his twelfth year with Summerhill Venture Partners, David has played a key role in the financing, growth and successful exits of many Summerhill Venture Partners Investments, including the NASDAQ IPO of Endwave (NASDAQ: ENWV), and the acquisitions of MediaLight (acquired by Analog Devices- NYSE:ADI), Vistar Telecommunications (acquired by Bell Satellite Solutions), Border Network Technologies (acquired by Secure Computing- NASDAQ:SCUR), and Catena Networks (Acquired by Ciena- NASDAQ: CIEN).
Prior to joining Summerhill Venture Partners in 1995, David was a senior manager in the Systems Engineering group at Bell-Northern Research (BNR), the R&D division of Nortel Networks. David held a variety of strategic planning, business development, product development and operations roles in his nearly 15 years at BNR. David also was the founder of Nortel’s internal Business Ventures organization in 1996 (for internal funding of new business initiatives) and was actively involved in the first corporate development initiatives to facilitate Nortel’s interactions with start-up entities and venture capital organizations.
David holds a BSc with top honors in Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick (1980), where he was a recipient of the Governor General’s award, and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Toronto (1982).
David currently sits on the boards of Nextone Communications, Sylantro Systems and Sandbridge Technologies. |
